Strategic Asset Management

Strategic Asset Management is defined as assets that either directly generate revenue or are closely associated with revenue creation. Strategic assets include three categories: fixed, mobile and IT assets. With strategic asset management you can monitor, measure and most importantly, manage your total costs of asset management more effectively than ever before.
What are the benefits of Strategic Asset Management?

  • Know the total cost of ownership of any strategic asset
  • Know what you own, what is worth, who it is assigned to and where it is located
  • Prevent over deployment of software
  • Prevent loss and theft of both hardware and software
  • Minimize downtime, minimize repair costs and quickly redeploy back into production

With pressure mounting to improve financial performance in the face of a difficult economic climate, businesses look in all directions to increase revenue and decrease costs. Strategic Asset Management is a more sophisticated and comprehensive approach to extracting greater lifetime value from asset investment.

Strategic Asset Management Applicance (SAMA)
The Strategic Asset Management Appliance (SAMA) is a remote data collection engine used for remote managing remote assets in real time. Data comes in via cell phone or satellite technology into SAMA from various suppliers of intelligent systems for remote asset monitoring, control, data logging and automatic alarm notification. SAMA is hardware agnostic meaning you can mix and match different devices vendors depending on your specific needs. Some of the markets we serve include:

  • Vehicle tracking in real time – not only with GPS for vehicle tracking but also read the actual engine characteristics for maximizing fuel usage, catching maintenance issues at the symptom level rather that the catastrophic failure level and returning these asset back into production with minimum down time.
  • Intelligent irrigation systems – SAMA pings a remote intelligent ground sensor for recent rain fall and moisture content at 6 inches below the surface. Data is returned to SAMA via cell technology. SAMA then calculates how much water each station is scheduled to receive saving large malls up to 20% of their watering needs.
  • Fuel distribution – With intelligent sensors in the storage tanks and delivery trucks SAMA can precisely calculate how much fuel needs to be loaded into the delivery trucks for a particular route. In addition, SAMA can show on a map where all the vehicles are at, report when a speed limit has been exceeded and when maintenance needs to be scheduled based on reading engine characteristics in real time.
  • Any market or project requiring intelligent communication between your control center and remote devices made intelligent through any remote data acquisition devices

The E-ISG SAMA offers key performance indicators that measure process efficiency, performance of assets, true lifecycle cost of assets, maintenance factors and projected cost of ownership. Remember: you can’t manage what you can’t measure.

SAMA Components consists of:

  • MatchboxHost is the backend remote data acquisition service that connects your remote devices with your applications. The host is centered around a multi-threaded, multi-transport, multi-protocol, multi-framing .NET developed middleware traffic/messaging engine that manages communications between remote devices and to subscribing applications.
  • MatchboxAlarm is the backend message notifications service. Using alarms configured by the user and events published by MatchboxHost, it delivers notifications over emails or voice via cell phone calls. Users can set thresholds on upper and lower limits of most all parameters in the application. When a threshold has been exceeded, a message can be automatically sent out to an individual, a group of individuals or a list of people to be systematically contacted until an appropriate action has been initiated
